TEMPORARY FOSTER REQUESTS
If you can’t commit to fostering an animal until an unknown adoption date, then sign up to receive our Temporary Foster Request emails! You can sign up here. These requests are from our foster homes that are going on vacation, out of town on business, or for family emergencies, and need someone to care for their foster babies while they are gone. These requests are usually just for two or three days at a time, but it is extremely important for us to be able to support our foster families in any way we can.
If an opportunity comes up that you are interested in, please print, sign and return a Foster Home Contract and a Volunteer Waiver. You can email it to the address listed as the point of contact on the Temp Foster Request email. They may request that you complete a Cat or Dog Foster Application so they can get to know you, your family, and your home environment before they say okay, which is completely understandable so please don’t be offended if you are asked to fill out MORE paperwork. You only ever need to fill out these documents ONCE, so when your name is on file, you’re good to go from here on out!
“HOLD ME” PROGRAM
Another chance to love on some babies is with FOR’s “Hold Me” program. It started mid-2013 when we took in SO many infant kittens (some that were less than 24 hours old) that needed to be bottle fed around the clock in order to survive. We had a whole kitten team full of people willing to step up and save these infant lives. Sleep deprived and exhausted, this team was motivated by the success of daily challenges these infant kittens faced.
After being “out of the woods”, the need for socializing these kittens became the next challenge. In order to do this, we came up with the “Hold Me” Program. This was designed to create a group of volunteers that will take in a kitten and keep it for a week (or two) and then return it to its foster home. This gives the kitten the individual attention and socialization that makes it more adoptable, as well as provide our kitten nurses with a well deserved break after the every-3-hours-around-the-clock feedings are over!
If you would like to be a part of this program, please complete a Cat Foster Application and enter “Hold Me Program” as the name of the kitten you would like to foster. Please also be sure to print, sign and return a Foster Home Contract and Volunteer Waiver which can be attached directly to you application or emailed to info@forrescue.net
