Captain is a very special young hound/shepherd mix, He came in to the shelter in August,, extremely skinny and with his hipbone out of its socket. He would sit patiently in his kennel, just waiting for someone to play with him. Finally he was fostered by a sweet family with two young children, but their jealous older beagle kept attacking him. So he came to his next foster home, which has been the perfect place for him to fatten up and enjoy life. We’ve discovered that he loves couches, other dogs, and toys. Although he obviously has a lot of coonhound in him, he is not high-energy and noisy like most hounds. He loves to run around in the yard with his foster brother, but then he enjoys a snuggle on the couch. He had a vet appointment to check on his hip and we were very surprised to see on the x-rays that he has already had surgery for it! Since it was apparently unsuccessful and since it doesn’t slow him down at all, the vet says he doesn’t need another surgery. He doesn’t seem as if he’s in pain, so he may just require daily doses of glucosamine to prevent arthritis. Captain is house-trained, crate-trained, neutered, and up-to-date on vaccinations and flea and tick prevention. Apply for sweet Captain today!
